ECS Botanics (ASX:ECS), a leading Australian medicinal cannabis cultivator, has announced a significant milestone, reporting a 50% increase in cannabis flower yields. This achievement follows the first harvest from its upgraded protective crop enclosures, demonstrating the effectiveness of the company’s new infrastructure.
The initial harvest delivered 656 kilograms (wet weight) of cannabis flowers, a notable improvement compared to the previous yield of 437 kilograms for the same strain. The redesign also resulted in higher-grade buds and enhanced flower quality, showcasing ECS Botanics' commitment to producing premium organic medicinal cannabis.
Optimized Enclosure Design
The improved yields are attributed to advanced features in the new enclosures, which include upgraded lighting and heating systems. These upgrades enable year-round cultivation, ensuring optimal growing conditions and consistent production.
Nan-Maree Schoerie, Managing Director of ECS Botanics, expressed pride in the successful harvest, highlighting the teamwork and innovation behind the achievement. She emphasized that the increased yield and quality reinforce the company’s dedication to delivering high-quality medicinal cannabis to its customers across various markets.
Scaling Infrastructure for Higher Production
ECS Botanics is steadily expanding its cultivation capabilities, aiming to have five out of nine new protective enclosures operational by the end of December. The remaining four are expected to be commissioned by February. Upon completion, the company will have 26 enclosures in total, targeting over nine tonnes of production for the financial year 2025.
A minor budget overrun occurred during a $250,000 electricity upgrade, which will support six of the enclosures year-round. ECS Botanics is also seeking an additional power upgrade to two megawatts, which would accommodate 15 enclosures by the financial year 2026.
Positioned for Domestic and International Growth
ECS Botanics is preparing to introduce new cannabis strains and expand its reach in both domestic and international markets. The company expects stricter quality standards in the European Union to enhance its competitive position in export markets.
Following the success of its Green Gelato dried cannabis flower, ECS Botanics will export three new strains to Germany starting January. However, a delay in laboratory registration has postponed sales in Poland, with progress expected soon.
This infrastructure-driven growth positions ECS Botanics to meet increasing demand for premium organic medicinal cannabis while solidifying its market presence globally.
