Telix Pharmaceuticals (ASX:TLX) has achieved a significant milestone by securing marketing approval in Brazil for its prostate cancer imaging agent, Illuccix. This marks the company's first venture into the South American market. The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency has approved Illuccix, a gallium-based isotope used in positron emission tomography to diagnose prostate cancer by targeting prostate-specific membrane antigen.
In Brazil, prostate cancer is the most diagnosed male cancer, with an expected 71,730 new cases in 2023. The disease claimed 20,000 lives in 2022, with around 250,000 men living with the disease. Illuccix is already available in major Western jurisdictions, including the US, and its entry into Brazil is expected to tap into a growing radiopharmaceuticals market projected to reach US$330 million over the next decade.
Orthocell Gains a Foothold in Singapore
Orthocell (ASX:OCC) has received approval to sell its dental guided bone regeneration product, Striate, in Singapore. Striate, a resorbable collagen membrane, already holds approval in several markets, including the US, Europe, and the UK. Singapore's role as a key regulatory hub opens doors to further expansion in the ASEAN region. Following the approval announcement, Orthocell's share price saw a significant uplift of up to 12%.
Sigma Healthcare's Market Dynamics
Sigma Healthcare (ASX:SIG) post-merger with Chemist Warehouse emerges as a dominant player with a 27% share in the wholesale pharmacy sector. With an extensive network of automated distribution centers, Sigma is expected to achieve robust revenue and earnings growth over the coming years. However, current valuation multiples present challenges for potential investors, as highlighted in a recent report.
Neurizon Therapeutics Prepares for ALS Trial Resumption
Neurizon Therapeutics (ASX:NUZ) is gearing up to resume its clinical study targeting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) with a repurposed veterinary drug, monepantel. An initial setback came when the FDA placed a 'clinical hold' on human trials, necessitating further animal studies to affirm safety. Neurizon plans to recommence trials by the end of 2025, potentially leading to a significant increase in share value.
