Telix Pharmaceuticals (ASX:TLX) is taking significant strides in expanding its portfolio with the biologics licensing application for its kidney cancer imaging agent TLX250-CDx (Zircaix) submitted to the US FDA. Zircaix leverages positron emission tomography (PET) technology to diagnose clear cell renal cell carcinoma, a prevalent and aggressive kidney cancer type. If approved, it will be the first targeted PET agent for kidney cancer available in the US.
The FDA will review the application following its standard 60-day process, and Zircaix, designated as a breakthrough therapy, may undergo expedited review. Results from Telix’s pivotal phase III Zircon trial demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity, providing strong clinical backing for the application.
Building on the success of its prostate cancer imaging tool Illucix, which generated significant revenue growth and was approved across key markets, Telix anticipates a commercial launch for Zircaix in 2025. CEO Kevin Richardson highlighted the potential for Zircaix to address unmet needs in kidney cancer diagnostics.
Dimerix Achieves Recruitment Milestone for Kidney Disease Drug
Dimerix (ASX:DXB) is advancing its phase III trial for DMX-200, targeting the rare kidney disease focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). The company has completed recruitment of the first 144 participants for the study, marking a crucial step in its clinical progress. The trial will ultimately involve 286 patients, with data collection expected by mid-2025.
DMX-200 is globally recognized as the most advanced FSGS therapy in late-stage trials and holds orphan drug designation, enabling potential fast-track approval. Early participants completing the study have opted for an extension phase, underscoring confidence in the therapy.
Proteomics International Breakthrough in Endometriosis Diagnosis
Proteomics International (ASX:PIQ) has developed Promarkerendo, a blood test capable of accurately diagnosing endometriosis—a chronic and challenging condition. Current diagnostic methods involve invasive laparoscopy procedures, often leading to delayed diagnosis.
Validated in peer-reviewed research published in Human Reproduction, the test achieved high accuracy in distinguishing severe cases. Collaborating with leading Australian institutions, Proteomics analyzed plasma samples from 805 participants, developing diagnostics to meet a critical healthcare gap.
The company plans to launch the test in Australia by mid-2025, offering a non-invasive diagnostic alternative. Following this breakthrough, Proteomics shares surged by a notable margin.
