Highlights
- Bonanza gold grades of up to 107.5 g/t confirmed at Red Rock Canyon.
- GIS mapping uncovers multiple gold-bearing structures, extending mineralization.
- High-grade zones to be prioritized in future drilling efforts for additional insights.
Liberty Star Minerals (LBSR) recently released its 2024 channel sampling results from its Red Rock Canyon (RRC) gold project, situated within the broader Hay Mountain Project in southeastern Arizona. This program has unveiled exciting gold mineralization, underscoring the potential for both high-grade gold and bulk tonnage deposits in the area.
The most noteworthy results came from recent channel samples that recorded exceptional bonanza gold grades of up to 107.5 grams per ton (g/t) and 60 g/t, extending the known mineralized zones by another 100 feet. These findings not only highlight the strength of the high-grade mineralization but also open up new potential areas for further exploration.
Alongside these bonanza grades, the sampling program identified a host of other gold-bearing structures throughout the RRC project area. Liberty Star Minerals has employed GIS mapping to pinpoint a series of parallel and related mineralized zones, which are believed to be connected to larger, deeper gold enrichment areas within the region. These structures were previously considered by historical exploration to act as feeders for greater gold deposits.
Despite these findings, the company has noted the challenge of accessing certain gold-bearing zones, as they lie within flat-lying, sedimentary strata-bound gold deposits. These areas are not accessible via the traditional channel sampling method and will require drilling to better assess their potential, thus indicating a promising avenue for future operations.
The focus of Liberty Star Minerals’ sampling efforts in 2024 was on testing the upper portions of vertical mineralized structures. Interestingly, earlier drilling efforts had already confirmed the presence of these flat-lying gold enrichment zones in the Colina and Earp formations, which extend the potential of the site for a much more comprehensive gold deposit.
Jim Bryce, Chief Geologist at Liberty Star Minerals (LBSR), explained that while historical exploration emphasized the jasperoids as key feeder zones, it overlooked the vital need for more robust statistical sampling along these structures. Notably, some of the channel sample assays conducted by the company have surpassed one ounce per ton, supporting Bryce's sentiment that “grade is king.”
Liberty Star Minerals is looking toward the future with excitement, as both high-grade gold zones and potential bulk tonnage targets present an intriguing opportunity for drilling campaigns designed to define these resources more accurately.
With these developments at Red Rock Canyon, Liberty Star Minerals is moving steadily toward further exploration and enhanced understanding of its gold project, setting the stage for future growth.
