Janus Electric signs battery supply agreement with Electrovaya to enhance zero-emission heavy transport
Partnership enables battery upgrades focused on longer life, reduced weight, and operational safety
Custom-built packs to support scaling of Janus' Energy-as-a-Service and conversion network
Janus Electric Holdings Ltd (ASX:JNS), listed on the All Ordinaries, has entered a commercial agreement with North American battery specialist Electrovaya Inc to supply advanced lithium-ion battery packs. These custom units are set to power Janus’ swappable battery systems for heavy transport applications, accelerating the company’s roadmap toward national electrification.
The collaboration is designed to support fleet conversions and Energy-as-a-Service operations across Australia's major freight corridors.
Next-Generation Battery Design to Enhance Vehicle Performance
The new battery systems, developed on Electrovaya’s Infinity Battery Technology Platform, will offer significant gains across multiple operational fronts. By focusing on increased usable energy, lower weight, and an extended lifespan, the upgraded packs are positioned to improve both vehicle range and payload capacity.
Janus and Electrovaya are working jointly to finalise a custom configuration that meets the specific demands of commercial electric trucking. The agreement includes provisions for design optimisation, intellectual property ownership of the battery form factor, and improved service deliverables.
Strategic Shift Toward Scaling Electrification Platform
Janus Electric’s leadership has positioned the deal as a core component of its broader post-listing growth strategy. The removal of internal battery manufacturing responsibilities enables the company to redirect focus toward service expansion and scaling of its truck conversion model.
With the Electrovaya partnership, Janus plans to introduce the new JB650 battery platform to its clients. The updated unit is expected to deliver improvements in charge cycles, safety standards, and operational reliability — factors deemed essential for Australia’s emerging zero-emissions freight sector.
Foundation for Nationwide Freight Electrification
Access to Electrovaya’s global manufacturing and support infrastructure is anticipated to streamline deployment across Janus’ growing logistics network. Janus' founder and chief operating officer Lex Forsyth stated the integration of this battery technology aligns with the company’s mission of driving clean transport solutions at scale.
Founded in 2019, Janus transitioned from a retrofit operation to a full-service electrification company through its recent listing on the ASX. The company is now targeting rapid market penetration through modular battery platforms and strategic supply agreements such as this one.
