  • Janus Electric expands its battery swap infrastructure across key freight corridors

  • Swappable battery platform enables rapid transitions in heavy transport electrification

  • Strategic partnership signed with Electrovaya for next-generation battery systems

Janus Electric Holdings Ltd (ASX:JNS), listed on the ASX 300, is advancing its mission to decarbonise Australia’s freight industry through its modular battery swap model. The company’s technology targets the retrofit of existing diesel prime movers, enabling clean transport without high capital costs or extended downtimes.

The company’s rollout now focuses on Australia’s key logistics corridors, with new developments supporting a transition from pilot operations to broader commercial scale.

Swappable Battery Network Targets Long-Haul Efficiency

Janus Electric’s proprietary battery-swapping system is designed to address charging limitations in commercial electric vehicles. Instead of idle hours spent at charging stations, trucks fitted with Janus technology can replace depleted batteries at specialised Charge & Change Stations within minutes.

These swap points are strategically positioned across routes linking Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The goal is to maximise uptime for freight fleets operating on high-utilisation closed-loop hauls, supporting both performance and environmental targets.

Cement Australia and Qube Holdings Ltd are among the early adopters integrating Janus-converted electric trucks. In collaboration with Qube, Janus is also progressing plans for a high-capacity electric road train — a major move within Australia’s logistics landscape.

New Battery Deal with Electrovaya Enhances Scalability

To reinforce its infrastructure and vehicle deployment plans, Janus signed a commercial agreement with North American battery supplier Electrovaya Inc. The partnership secures access to Infinity Battery systems that prioritise energy density and lifecycle management.

This collaboration underpins Janus’s transition toward recurring subscription revenues while reinforcing its focus on software-integrated energy delivery.

Revenue Anchored in Conversion and Subscription Ecosystem

Janus operates with a two-channel model: upfront diesel-to-electric truck conversions and an energy-as-a-service network. The conversion process modernises existing fleets, while subscription access to the battery infrastructure provides recurring income streams from energy usage, battery authentication, and operational access.

Clients benefit from reduced emissions, lower operating expenses, and minimised disruptions as existing vehicles undergo retrofit rather than full replacement.

Manufacturing and Licensing Support Commercial Expansion

The company has begun scaling its conversion capacity with a manufacturing facility on the New South Wales Central Coast. Dealership partnerships and technology licensing are being explored to accelerate nationwide adoption.

Janus has converted several trucks and is currently managing additional contracts, including over a hundred confirmed conversion orders. Global interest is also building, with discussions underway across the United States, South Africa, Southeast Asia, and New Zealand.

In regions such as California and New Zealand, existing emissions policies and renewable grids present favourable conditions for battery-swap logistics in commercial transport.

Australian Engineering Meets ESG Alignment

Founded in 2019, Janus’s solution is built and engineered in Australia. The company’s model avoids common barriers in electric transport adoption, including downtime and capital burden, while helping fleet operators reduce carbon emissions, noise pollution, and particulate exposure.

The leadership team includes professionals from across transport, energy, and finance. Their combined expertise supports the company’s operational and environmental priorities, with a focus on contributing to Australia's broader net-zero goals.
