  • D3 Energy advances helium exploration in South Africa
  • Reserves certified for ER315 field in Free State region
  • Production rights application underway for next phase

D3 Energy (ASX:D3E) has reached a pivotal milestone with its ER315 helium project in South Africa, following a successful certification of reserves from early-stage exploration. The company is progressing its plans rapidly after debuting on the ASX and is now preparing for a production rights application—marking a significant transition from exploration to pre-production.

The certified reserves at ER315, located in South Africa’s Free State region, represent just a fraction of D3’s broader tenement holdings. Even with only a small portion assessed, results have validated the company’s development strategy and exploration efforts. This reserve certification supports D3’s next step of applying for what would be the second onshore production licence for helium in the country.

While D3 Energy is not part of the ASX 200 stocks, the growing relevance of specialty gas projects, such as helium and methane, is increasingly drawing attention within the broader investment landscape. These developments align with the rising interest in niche energy and materials sectors that cater to global demand shifts.

Helium, the project’s focus, is a critical component in applications across healthcare systems and high-tech industries, including electronics and semiconductor manufacturing. As supply remains constrained and demand trends upward globally, new sources like ER315 offer timely alternatives for regional and international markets.

In addition to helium, the ER315 field also holds reserves of methane, which has growing utility in storage and transport sectors. These developments further diversify the project's potential and contribute to its strategic value.

With its upcoming production right application, D3 Energy continues to build momentum, targeting commercialisation of its South African project. The steps taken so far represent foundational progress in establishing a new energy frontier within the region.
