- The objective is to delineate bedrock targets for upcoming RC drilling at Challa, located in a world-class gold producing region.
Gold-focused explorer Platina Resources (ASX:PGM) has kicked off a maiden drilling program at its Challa Gold Project, 500km north-east of Perth. This project includes E58/552 and E58/553 tenements extending across 293km2.
Moreover, the tenements are placed between the highly prospective gold districts of Sandstone and Mt Magnet in Western Australia.
Drilling program to define targets
The air-core (AC) drilling program at the Challa Gold Project is aimed at delineating and prioritising bedrock targets for upcoming reverse circulation (RC) drilling.
The AC drilling campaign will target surface anomalies identified via recent mapping, geophysics, rock chip sampling and geochemistry program comprising over 3,500 soil samples throughout the tenement.
Within the northern tenement, the Company has already assayed rock chip samples up to 5.89 g/t.

Challa Project location
PGM had closely engaged with traditional landowners to obtain the requisite site clearances and offer employment opportunities to regional indigenous workers in the process. The campaign gives a leg up to the company’s Western Australian gold strategy.
Notably, numerous open pit and underground mining works at the Sandstone province have produced more than 1.3 million ounces of gold. Also, more than 6 million ounces have been produced at Mt Magnet since its discovery in 1891.
During its lifetime, the Youanmi Gold Mine, which is in proximity, has delivered 670,000 ounces of gold. At present, this gold mine is the focus of new resource drilling of high-grade gold lodes.
PGM shares were trading at AU$0.028 midday on 04 July 2022.
