Zenith Minerals (ASX:ZNC) announces Tonka zinc-lead-silver discovery at Earaheedy

In an exciting development, Zenith Minerals Limited (ASX:ZNC) has announced a new zinc-lead-silver (Zn-Pb-Ag) sulphide discovery at the Earaheedy Joint Venture zinc project in Western Australia. Zenith owns a 25% free carried interest to the end of the bankable feasibility study.

The new discovery, Tonka, is a flat lying zone, located 8km southeast of the Chinook Zn-Pb-Ag discovery.  The discovery was made during the ongoing regional drilling program at Earaheedy, aimed at testing the wider potential of the JV project.

The latest discovery hosts an interpreted strike of 1.7km and 1km down dip length. The discovery remains open in all directions with significant potential for expansion. The mineralisation style is flat and is located close to the surface, similar to the Chinook Zn-Pb-Ag discovery. Comparatively, Chinook has an interpreted strike of over 4.1km and 1.9km down dip and further, remains open in all directions.

The significant discovery has been defined on three broad lines 500m and 750m apart at Tonka with the initial round of assay results including –

  • EHRC399 - 22m @ 4.27% Zn+Pb, 5.4g/t Ag from 110m
  • EHRC262 - 10m @ 3.93% Zn+Pb, 4.34g/t Ag from 84m
  • EHRC263 - 5m @ 5.03% Zn+Pb, 9.74g/t Ag from 101m

Elated about the Tonka discovery, Michael Clifford, CEO of Zenith Minerals said:

A new Zn-Pb-Ag discovery at Tonka, in regional exploration drilling, confirms the highly prospective nature of the Earaheedy Joint Venture ground. The success to date has resulted in a further expansion of the 2021 drill campaign to 50,000m.

I am also looking forward to announcing further assay results from the ongoing drilling program, as they come to hand over the coming weeks.”

The 2021 joint venture program has now been extended to over 50,000m of drilling and will also include further scoping of the Tonka Zn-Pb-Ag discovery.

The ongoing regional exploration drilling program focuses on identifying more discoveries across the 45km strike. The joint venture partners believe that the explorers are yet to unlock the true potential of the Earaheedy Project and look forward to releasing further assay results from the project in the upcoming weeks.

Shares of Zenith traded at AU$0.225 a share on 13 December 2021 with a market capitalisation of AU$72.85 million.
