It can be assumed that now the market players can take a sigh of relief largely because of somewhat positive news from the trade battlefront. As the market players were aware, significant efforts are being made to end the trade battle between the US and China. The US President, Mr. Trump, had made an announcement which could significantly support the sentiments of the market players. A rise in the US tariffs would now be delayed from the deadline of March 1. If the trade battle ends on a permanent basis, it would substantially help the global equity markets and also the sentiments of the investors. The trade battle had significantly impacted the global equity markets as well as the Chinese economy.

The worries about the slowdown in global economic growth rose after the weakness in the economy of China was witnessed. Therefore, the positive news related to the trade battle has the potential to support equity markets. On February 22, 2019, Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended the session in green as the index wrapped up at 26,031.81 which implies the rise of 181.18 points or 0.70%. However, on the same day, S&P 500 Index was closed at 2792.67 which reflects 17.79 points or 0.64% rise.

Understanding Factors Influencing Oil Prices

As the market players are aware, the oil prices get negatively impacted by the downturn in the global financial markets as well as when concerns about the slowdown in economic growth increases. As discussed, there has been some positive news from the perspective of the trade battle as the US President has decided to delay the rise in the US tariffs. The permanent settlement of the battle might positively impact the oil prices as it might support the business environment and would reduce the worries about a global slowdown.
