Australian exploration company Platina Resources Limited (ASX: PGM) has launched a maiden aircore drilling program at its Beete Project, located in Western Australia. The objective of the drilling program is to investigate the bedrock for gold, nickel and lithium anomalies.
The tenement-wide campaign would assess geochemical and geophysics targets which are believed to be hidden beneath a shallow blanket of cover.
The drilling campaign of over around 200 holes is expected to be completed in four to five weeks, offering a full coverage of a 20km strike of NS trending geology.
The Beete project, spanning 134km2, is situated 50km south of Norseman and is considered an extension of the prolific Norseman Greenstone Belt. This belt is renowned for its significant gold production history, surpassing 5 million ounces.
Historically, the project region has hosted multiple high-grade gold mines . Additionally, recent exploration conducted by other mining firms has yielded promising results including high-grade rare earth and gold findings. Notably, the Scotia deposit, owned by ASX-listed company Pantoro, lies 12km north of Beete and forms part of the larger Norseman Gold Project, boasting mineral resources totalling 4.78Moz ofgold.
PGM remains dedicated to active exploration across its gold acreage in Western Australia. Notably, the phase two reverse circulation campaign at the Xanadu Project has confirmed a large extension of oxide gold mineralisation. Diamond drilling is scheduled at Xanadu in 3Q 2024.
