Lithium Universe Limited (ASX:LU7) has appointed Patrick Scallan AOM to the company’s board as a non-executive director. He will be replacing Ross Cotton, who has stepped down from the role.

A valuable addition to the LU7 Board

Mr Scallan holds extensive experience in the lithium industry. For more than 25 years, he has been a part of the management at the top-notch Greenbushes Mine, the largest lithium hard rock mine globally, hosting the world’s highest-grade orebody.

Mr Scallan was supervising several mine expansions, scaling up its annual output to more than 1,400,000 tpa today from 200,000 in 1997. During his tenure, he navigated several ownership changes. He holds expertise in hard rock exploration, mining and spodumene concentrating, with downstream relationships with spodumene converters globally.

He holds experience as well as skills in managing relationships with the local community. During his time at Greenbushes, he has served the part of a shire councillor for around two decades. He was honoured with Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his contribution to the local community and government.

Formerly, he has served in numerous management positions at different companies, including Western Deep Levels Gold Mine in South Africa and Capel and Eneabba Mineral Sands in Western Australia.

Remarks by management on the key strategic appointment of Scallan to the board:
