Highlights
- Cooper Metals has intersected more sulphides at King Solomon 1 prospect near Mt Isa.
- Visual sulphide mineralisation has been reported in all the diamond drill holes.
- To examine the geophysical response associated with the mineralisation, a trial DHEM is in progress.
Cooper Metals Limited (ASX: CPM), a copper and gold exploration firm, has completed a diamond drilling program covering four drill holes at King Solomon 1 Cu-Au prospect, with visual sulphide mineralisation in all holes.
In the 23MEDH002 hole, semi massive sulphides have been noted in brecciated rocks while the 23MEDH004 hole hit more than 10m downhole of solid sulphide veins in quartz carbonate rich rock.
Approximately 290 samples have been sent for assaying, and the results are expected in October.
The company informed that a trial downhole electromagnetic survey (DHEM) is underway to examine the electromagnetic response of the copper-gold mineralisation at four diamond holes and test if the response could be utilised to target sulphide mineralisation at depth. The geophysical modelling of the data is anticipated in late September.
This is what CPM Managing Director Ian Warland said among other things:
Visual sulphide mineralisation
Diamond drilling across the four holes covered 710 metres, and the drillholes were designed to identify significant portions of Cu-Au mineralisation close to three RC drill holes.
Here are the details of four diamond drill holes:
Data source: Company update
23MEDH004 drill hole intersected nearly 10 metres visual sulphides from almost 111m. The estimated sulphides in this drill hole are up to 5 -10% with 30% chalcopyrite (cpy). The visual sulphides aligned with the mineralisation intersected in the neighbouring RC drill hole – 22MERRC032.
23MEDH003 drill hole reported patchy disseminated pyrite (py) dominated sulphides (1-2%).
23MEDH002 diamond hole intersected considerable visual mineralisation (zones between ~83 metres to 94 metres downhole), consistent with the RC hole’s intersection. The 11m downhole mineralised zone has reported semi-massive sulphides with the dominance of pyrite (py) and chalcopyrite (cpy).
What’s ahead?
CPM intends to complete diamond drilling assaying and interpretation, along with DHEM surveys at King Solomon. Also, the company aims to plan follow-up drill testing at the prospect and commence reverse circulation drill testing of regional targets.
CPM shares last traded at AU$0.14 apiece midday on 14 September 2023.
