Highlights

  • Latest soil and rock chip sampling campaign at the Gooroo project has enhanced gold anomalies.
  • A sample of silicified basalt float reported 2.56 g/t gold.
  • Infill soil sampling has confirmed the occurrence of five gold anomalies in potentially favourable structural trap sites.
  • Aircore drilling is planned later in the year.

Cooper Metals Limited (ASX: CPM) has shared new encouraging results from soil sampling conducted at the Gooroo Project, Western Australia.

The assays from recent soil and rock chip sampling campaign has enhanced gold anomalies as the results included up to 2.56g/t Au from a sample of silicified basalt float from gold anomaly 1.

When compared with the previous 2021-2022 soil sampling program, the recently concluded program has returned higher values.

This work has confirmed five gold targets in potentially favourable structural trap sites.

The company plans a field trip to validate the priority gold anomalies before proceeding with aircore drilling later in the year.

Five gold targets at Gooroo Project

The Gooroo Project is located near mining projects such as Silver Lake Resources’ Deflector mine (~ 1.27 Moz Au @ 13.5 g/t & 3 Mt @ 0.8% Cu).

During the first quarter of 2023, the company concluded aeromagnetic and radiometric surveys. In late 2023, further detailed mapping and rock chip geochemical sampling in conjunction with aeromagnetic surveys was finalised. It helped in defining new gold targets for aircore drilling.

Rock chip assays included a sample which returned up to 2.56 g/t Au.

The five priority areas identified for follow up are-

Cooper has reviewed the historical wide spaced aircore and Rotary Air Blast (RAB) drilling conducted at E59/2584 by previous explorers. Following the review of results, two targets are planned for further drilling where anomalous Au value up to 329 ppb were reported.

For 2024, additional infill drilling location and further lines of aircore drillholes are planned, after receiving all the necessary regulatory approvals.

CPM shares were trading at AU$0.275 apiece at the time of writing on 22 February 2024.
