Activated carbon products provider Carbonxt Group Ltd (ASX: CG1) has strengthened its board with the appointment of Dr Imtiaz Kathawalla as a non-executive director.
The extensive experience of Dr Kathawalla is expected to aid the company in the development of its state-of-the-art activated carbon production facility in the US-based Kentucky. The company looks forward to his strategic advice regarding the plant’s future operations and development.
CG1 is developing the plant in a joint venture with US partner Kentucky Carbon Processing, LLC.
More about Dr Kathawalla
Dr Kathawalla served at Cabot Corporation, an NYSE-listed chemical organisation, as a vice president. He had a 27-year-long stint at Cabot. His most recent position was as General Manager of the Purification Solutions Division at Cabot.
In Cabot, Dr Kathawalla was responsible for running its US$300 million activated carbon business, wherein he oversaw a material increase in EBITDA. He also managed the sale of the activated carbon business to a private equity group.
Huge addressable market
The company also informed that its addressable market is estimated to expand by 〜US$600 million, underpinned by the new regulations for PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) due to federal government funding to enhance water quality standards in the US and significant regulatory tailwinds.
