Highlights

  • Further drill assays from Balfour Manganese Field have confirmed manganese enriched shales at the Pickering and Damsite prospects.
  • The Company expects to finalise Mineral Resource Estimates by the end of this quarter for the KR1, KR2, Balfour East and Damsite prospects.
  • For the Pickering prospect, an Exploration Target is due for estimation.

Black Canyon Limited (ASX: BCA) has shared final assays from two prospects, Damsite and Pickering. The results have confirmed further discoveries of thick, near surface manganese enriched shales at the two prospects located within the Balfour Manganese Field.

As part of the 7,000m reverse circulation (RC) drilling program, 42 holes for 1,038m were drilled at the Damsite and Pickering prospects.

Significant results achieved from these prospects are as follows –

Data source: Company update

The results demonstrated that the manganese mineralised shale at Pickering is between 300m and 500m wide, extending 10m to 48m downhole.

The results demonstrated that the manganese mineralised shale at Pickering is between 300m and 500m wide, extending 10m to 48m downhole.

At Damsite, results suggest shallowly dipping mineralisation to the north. Open to the north, the mineralisation has ~300m cross strike width and at least 500m strike extent.

With the completion of drilling covering the KR1, KR2, Balfour East, Damsite and Pickering targets, the company is advancing towards finalising mineral resource estimates, expected by the end of the quarter.

Detailed final assay results

The drilling program at Pickering Prospect examined a previously undrilled section of outcropping to sub-cropping supergene manganese mineralisation by utilising four N-S oriented lines, 400m or 800m apart, spaced at 100m centres assessing 2000m of strike. The strike length of the Pickering prospect is about 10km, and there is significant scope to conduct additional drilling and expand the target size.

The assay results suggested that the mineralised horizon at Pickering is interpreted to be dipping shallowly to the north. Moreover, significant mineralised and geological continuity is reported along the strike over several hundred metres.

The Damsite prospect was examined with three N-S lines, 200m apart, with holes spaced at 100m centres assessing 400m of strike.

What’s next?

BCA has kicked off Mineral Resources Estimates on four of the six drill targets. The estimation is expected by December end.

This is what Mr Cummins further commented:

BCA share price traded at AU$0.160 midday on 18 October 2023.
