Highlights

  • Aguia Resources recently revealed that it had received “outstanding” results from agronomic tests using its organic phosphate fertiliser, Pampafos®, on wheat crops in Rio Grande do Sul
  • The productivity of crops during the Pampafos trial was noted to be equal to or greater than that of Single Super Phosphate
  • According to the company, Pampafos® has been tested on oats, pasture, soybean, rice, corn (maise), and wheat till now, with all tests delivering good results

ASX-listed multi-commodity company Aguia Resources Limited (ASX:AGR) recently shared agronomic test results performed on wheat crops using the company’s organic phosphate fertiliser, Pampafos®. During the test, Pampafos® was applied to fields on a private property in Tupaciretã, Rio Grande do Sul.

As of now, Pampafos® trials have been performed on several Brazilian crops, such as oats, pasture, soybean, rice, corn (maise), and wheat, with all tests delivering good results.

Positive performance of Aguia’s natural phosphate fertiliser

According to the company, the results reflect the high productivity potential for the application of Pampafos® in wheat fields. It shows Pampafos® provided macronutrient phosphorus to the plants.

  • In a dosage of 200 kg/ha of P2O5 and 100 kg/ha of P2O5, the wheat results using Pampafos® outdid the productivity recorded with a dosage of 80 kg/ha of P2O5 of usual fertiliser, Single Super Phosphate (SSP).
  • In a dosage of 200 kg/ha of P2O5, the wheat results using Pampafos® were up 18% as compared to conventional SSP fertiliser used under the same testing conditions.

Additionally, growers will potentially reduce costs by using Pampafos® versus conventional chemical phosphate fertilisers.

Agronomic efficiency tests on wheat

Agronomic tests using Aguia’s organic phosphate fertiliser, Pampafos®, were performed in collaboration with Rural Sul Pesquisa e Consultoria Ltda. An agronomic consulting company, Rural Sul Pesquisa e Consultoria, works in the northeast region of Rio Grande do Sul, where some of the most productive lands are located.

While all the trials were being overseen by Integrar Gestão e Inovação Agropecuária, an independent agronomic consulting firm, the program was planned and supervised by Aguia.

During the trial, the wheat was seeded in a latosoil area in early June 2022 during the winter season. It must be noted that these areas were different from the areas where flat soil was used for testing. In the next step, some nutrient sources were added in the field.

Overall, four treatments were positioned side by side in the test, spanning over an area of four hectares with around one hectare per treatment.

Different P2O5 dosages with Pampafos® were applied during the T1, T2 and T3 treatments. However, conventional farm management with SSP was followed in Treatment T4.

Wheat Grain Production

Aguia determined wheat grain production by harvesting each treatment area separately. The grain was weighed to measure yield in kg/ha (kilograms per hectare).

Out of all the four treatments, Treatment T1, where 200 kg/ha of P2O5 was applied with Pampafos®, resulted in the highest yield of 2,153 kg/ha. Treatment T2 with the application of 100 kg/ha of P2O5through Pampafos® returned a yield of 2,010 kg/ha.

Treatments T1 and T2 productivities were 18% and 10% higher than those of Treatment T4, respectively.

Both treatments, T1 and T2, using Pampafos® surpassed the treatment with conventional phosphate fertiliser (T4), where 80 kg/ha of P2O5was applied using SSP and resulted in a yield of 1,822 kg/ha.

In Treatment T3 with the application of Pampafos®, 50 kg/ha of P2O5resulted in a productivity of 1,801 kg/ha.
