Oil and gas explorer and producer 88 Energy (ASX: 88E) -- operating with focus on its North American interests -- has reported successful drilling of Hickory-1 surface hole. Notably, Hickory-1 is a part of 88 Energy's Project Phoenix with location as the central North Slope of Alaska. The company has drilled the surface hole to 3,570 feet, with installation and cementing of surface casing also completed. 88E states that the permitted Total Depth (TD) is ~12,500 feet.

Shares jump over 9%

After the announcement on 23 March 2023, ASX listed shares of the company had jumped more than 9% as of writing and were trading at AU$0.012.
