Chesser Resources Limited (ASX:CHZ) today announced the appointment of expert geologist Gareth O’Donovan for the exploration of gold at Diamba Sud mine located in Senegal, West Africa.

Gareth O’Donovan is a founder of mineral exploration consulting SRK Exploration that was established in 2003. SRK Exploration is engaged in providing technical know-how and resources for the exploration of metal and mineral commodities from early stage through to resource drilling.

Currently functioning as a chairman of SRK, Mr. Gareth O’Donovan holds extensive experience in exploration work especially across West Africa including direct involvement in Senegal. Before establishing SRK Exploration, Mr. Donovan has worked with Anglo American Gold for more than ten years in various regions in Africa, including Senegal.

Chesser’s Managing Director, Mike Brown stated that Diamba Sud’s high-quality gold anomaly and discovery potential in Senegal had been the two driving forces in attaining a candidate of Gareth’s caliber. Mr. Brown added, “Chesser believes that under Gareth’s guidance, the company will have a ‘world-class’ team of geologist focused on unleashing the significant value from company’s projects.”

Diamba Sud is a flagship gold exploration project of Chesser Resources in the region of Senegal, West Africa. The strong gold anomaly has already been completed at Diamba Sud that outlines significant scale and strength with intercepts of up to 8.1g/t Au from auger geochemistry. Now, the company aims to undertake the Phase 1 drilling program at Diamba Sud. For this upcoming drilling program, Exploration manager Gareth has already made a trip to Diamba Sud for the review and Chesser’s in-country team meeting.

Under the first phase of drilling, the company intends to identify the source of the saprolite-hosted gold anomaly and discover the nature, style and potential host of the mineralization. This phase 1 drilling program is scheduled to undertake circa 5,000 meters of RC drilling, targeting a nominal average depth of 100 meters at Diamba Sud.

Chesser Resources told that it expects Diamba Sud drilling to commence early in the year 2019. Moreover, the company has also made new strategically located application to enhance the quality of Chesser’s portfolio in Senegal. It includes an application for two tenements Bondala and Morichou situated in the northern part of the Birimian Kedougou-Kenieba inlier.

In today’s trading session, Chesser’s shares traded flat on ASX. There has been no daily price movement in the share price of CHZ; however, it last traded at $0.039.
