Highlights:

  • Waratah Minerals extends drilling at the Spur gold-copper project in New South Wales, identifying a growing gold strike corridor.

  • The drilling program focuses on shallow epithermal gold and associated porphyry gold-copper mineralisation.

  • New drilling activities include 40 additional drill sites, further expanding exploration in the Spur zone.

Waratah Minerals (ASX:WTM), an ASX-listed company, continues to enhance its drilling operations at the Spur gold-copper project located in New South Wales. The company is advancing exploration efforts at the site after identifying a growing corridor that hosts multiple mineralised zones. This expansion follows positive results from earlier drilling, revealing a gold strike spanning approximately one kilometre, with open extensions in multiple directions.

Growing Exploration Area

The Spur gold-copper project sits in a highly prospective region, approximately five kilometres west of the renowned Cadia Valley project. Waratah’s current drilling focuses on expanding this gold corridor, with the aim of better understanding the scale and distribution of mineralisation across the site. As drilling progresses, additional data is being gathered to assess the area’s mineralisation potential more comprehensively.

Focus on Two Main Targets

The company’s ongoing drilling campaign targets two key types of mineralisation. The first is shallow high-grade epithermal gold mineralisation, while the second focuses on associated porphyry gold-copper mineralisation. Both target types are of significant interest due to their potential for hosting substantial mineral resources. Waratah is using reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling (DD) techniques to evaluate these targets, aiming to define the gold zones and explore porphyry-related mineralisation further.

Recent Drilling Achievements

Waratah Minerals recently reported a notable result from its drilling efforts, including an intercept of 100 gram-metres, located 100 metres down-dip from previous drilling results. This addition underscores the expanding size and grade of mineralisation within the Spur gold corridor. Additional assays from ongoing drilling campaigns are expected to provide further insights into the system's characteristics.

Extensive Drilling Campaign Underway

The company has recommenced drilling at the Spur site, with a high-capacity RC rig now operating across an additional forty drill sites. The primary objective of this drilling phase is to refine the understanding of the structural control on high-grade mineralisation within the Spur zone. Geology suggests that the mineralisation trends in a steep, southerly plunging direction, which will be tested with extensional RC and DD drilling techniques. These activities are expected to explore mineralisation further down dip, along strike, and along the identified plunge.

In line with its exploration goals, Waratah is focused on identifying and refining key zones within the Spur gold corridor. The expansion of the drilling program reflects the company's commitment to gaining a deeper understanding of the system's structure and mineralisation.

Exploration Continues

Waratah Minerals remains focused on advancing the exploration and drilling at the Spur gold-copper project. As drilling continues, the company aims to gather further data to help define the gold zones and potential porphyry mineralisation. The ongoing expansion of the drilling program demonstrates Waratah’s commitment to developing its project in New South Wales and enhancing its exploration footprint.
