Power Minerals Limited has advanced its inaugural drilling campaign at the Morro do Ferro Rare Earths Project in Brazil, completing two initial drill holes and initiating a third. This milestone is crucial as the company works towards establishing a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate, highlighting its dedication to progressing exploration within the vital rare earth minerals sector.

Key Points

  • Power Minerals Limited (PNN)
  • Completed first two drill holes at Morro do Ferro Rare Earths Project; third hole underway
  • Initial assay results from first two holes anticipated within two to three weeks
  • Investors should track drilling progress and forthcoming assay outcomes

Update on Maiden Drilling Program at Morro do Ferro

Power Minerals has successfully finished the first two HQ triple-tube drill holes at the Morro do Ferro Rare Earths Project, with a third hole currently being drilled. The program targets both depth and expansion of high-grade mineralisation zones. The first two holes reached depths of 210.9 metres and 173.3 metres respectively, while the third hole has surpassed 200 metres in vertical depth.

The drilling campaign plans to complete approximately 4,000 metres of diamond core drilling, incorporating both HQ and larger PQ diameter cores. These samples will support metallurgical testing essential for project development. Core recovery rates have been excellent, with 487.8 metres recovered at an average 94.5% recovery to date.

Role of Geophysical Surveys in Resource Modeling

Complementing drilling efforts, Power Minerals completed a drone geophysical survey across the Manifestos de Mina area, generating high-resolution data vital for surface topography analysis. The survey produced a digital elevation model (DEM) alongside magnetic and radiometric datasets, which will enhance the accuracy of the Morro do Ferro deposit’s geometry.

The DEM will act as a key surface constraint in the upcoming Mineral Resource model, while magnetic and radiometric data will help identify additional targets within the project area. This comprehensive mapping is critical to ensuring reliable geological and resource models, thereby increasing confidence in the resource estimation.

Strong Financial Position Supports Exploration

With $7 million in cash reserves, Power Minerals is financially well-equipped to continue its exploration strategy at Morro do Ferro. This robust funding enables uninterrupted drilling and exploration activities without immediate capital concerns. The company plans to deploy a second drill rig soon to accelerate progress, potentially extending drilling operations through December if required.

This proactive approach underscores Power Minerals’ commitment to advancing its projects and reassures investors regarding its capability to manage exploration effectively.

Outlook: Targeting JORC-Compliant Resource Estimate

Power Minerals aims to define a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate for Morro do Ferro by year-end. Completion of the current drilling program is vital to achieving this objective. Ongoing drilling results will provide essential data to support the resource estimation process, a significant milestone for the company.

Laboratory assay results will be released progressively as samples are analyzed, offering critical validation of the mineralisation model and insights into the project’s economic potential. Investors will closely monitor these updates for indications of the project’s viability and company direction.

Operational Challenges and Mitigation

While drilling commenced successfully, Power Minerals encountered challenges establishing a reliable water supply for operations, which have since been resolved, allowing uninterrupted drilling. Such logistical issues are common in remote exploration and emphasize the importance of thorough planning and resource management.

The company also faced strong magnetic interference from near-surface magnetite dykes, requiring differential GPS technology for precise drillhole azimuth measurements. Despite these obstacles, both completed drillholes remain within planned tolerances, indicating smooth operational progress.

Exploration Potential at Santa Anna Project

In addition to Morro do Ferro, Power Minerals is advancing the Santa Anna Project in Goiás State, Brazil, known for exceptional niobium grades and limited exploration. The company has identified potential high-grade niobium deposits near carbonatite complex edges, which could substantially increase project value.

Power Minerals plans to initiate a systematic soil sampling program this quarter to accelerate exploration. This reconnaissance effort is integral to strategic planning for future drilling, with results expected to provide further insight into Santa Anna’s potential.

Upcoming Assay Results and Market Impact

Samples from the first two drill holes have been sent to SGS Geosol for detailed geochemical analysis, with initial assay results anticipated within two to three weeks. Timely release of these results is critical to sustaining investor interest and confidence.

The immediate effect on the share price remains unclear from public data. Positive assay outcomes could drive increased investor enthusiasm and improve market perception of Power Minerals’ prospects, while disappointing results might raise concerns about project viability and affect investor sentiment.
