Qantas Targeting Zero Net Carbon Emission By 2050

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX: QAN) conducted its investor day and discussed about targets of zero net carbon emission by 2050 and capping of net emission at 2020 level.

QAN’s action includes:

  • Increasing carbon offsetting
  • Reduction in fuel usage and investment in fuel-efficient aircraft, application of new technologies in flight planning and operations, optimising operational policies and procedures and reducing aircraft weight.
  • Invest and support development of biofuels
  • Hold itself responsible and influence others to follow the best practice disclosure and reporting as well as collaboration instead of competition just like safety culture.

At AEST 1:54 PM, QAN shares quoted $7.105, up 1.7% from its previous close.
