Fed maintains key US interest rate steady, retains optimism on US economy

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday held interest rates steady maintaining the key overnight lending rate in a range of between 1.50% and 1.75% at its first policy meeting of the year. The decision was based on the signs of stabilising global economic growth and reducing uncertainties around trade policy.

Moreover, US economy witnessed solid job gains in recent months and low unemployment rate and there had been signs of reassurance that the global economy would pick up in 2020 until the outbreak of coronavirus.
