Audio Pixels Holdings Limited (ASX: AKP) is a company from the consumer discretionary sector engaged in developing technological platform for reproducing sound for the manufacture of speakers.
On 9 April 2019, Audio Pixels Holdings Limited provided an update to its shareholders that they have entered into the final stage of the refinement of the fabrication processes, with a newly refined batch of âfull structureâ based wafers due shortly after the Easter / Passover holiday. Other than that, the required structural and process design changes that are required for the transitioning "simplified structureâ into a viable and attractive stand-alone / accompanying product has been introduced for fabrication to the vendor.
As per the ASX announcement of AKP on 21 December 2018, there were three major milestones that were required in the development of the digital speaker technology.
The company has received and measured the initial test wafers that combined its newly devised, mechanisms for suppressing the adverse charging effects. The careful characterization of these wafers established the key specifications of the full structured devices. The results obtained from the initial test wafers were exceptional. It was also practical to anticipate certain imperfections in the first iteration of a newly designed fabrication process. As per the information obtained from these measurements as well as through close cooperation with its vendor, the company was able to identify a number of shortcomings in the process, and also plan appropriate remedies for achieving repeatable production of reliable devices.
As announced on 21 December 2018, during the development of the companyâs full structure product, a simplified structure potential was discovered. Since the last announcement from the company, the company provided the key acoustic parameters that are required for the simplified structure. Still, there is a need for more work for extracting the full acoustic potential of the simplified structure. The company at present is progressing towards the simplified structure design.
Based on the experiments, simulations and design, the company was able to find that there was relatively a small number of changes to the design and core fabrication processes that could intensely improve the performance of the simplified structure. The designs have been executed and are now submitted to the vendor for fabrication. Furthermore, the company has the development of the new algorithms to work on the simplified structure.
