Audio Pixels Holdings Limited (ASX:AKP) announced three major technological breakthroughs recently achieved by the company. The first breakthrough concerns charge trapping issues and resolving the stiction; the company had been using unique and robust charge dissipation mechanism. Proper digital sound reconstruction demands that elements (pixels) begin and complete their motion within a few millionths of a second. The devices should repeatedly respond to electrical commands with sub-microsecond precision to achieve such operational accuracy â a phenomenon is known as stiction which occurs naturally during normal operation which is a concern in devices.
Changing the attraction forces which slows down or even prevents the release of the moving element are the electrical charges accumulate or penetrate the surface. Developed and successfully used throughout the industry are the various anti-stiction approaches each one enhanced to meet specific characteristics that are impacted by many variable factors. As the relatively larger amplitudes of the devices necessitate the use of significantly higher operating voltages, having tried several such approaches the company ultimately concluded that such solutions are inadequate for their requirements than is customary in most other MEMS devices. To suppress the specific adverse effects intrinsic in our device the company re-assessed the issue and devised three unique approaches.
One specific approach was selected not just of the minimal disruption and low cost involved in implementing this approach into pre-existing structure designs and fabrication methods but also because it proved to be exceptionally robust and effective.
In generating low frequencies so far proven to be highly efficient the second breakthrough involves the accidental invention of a simplified structure. The company routinely design and fabricate partial structures that are used to test and optimize specific electromechanical features of the device during development. To expedite the development and test of the anti-stiction solutions such simplified structure designs were also used. The devices produced significant sound pressure. To further explore the characteristics of this simplified structure design expanding on this finding, specific wafers and algorithms were designed and fabricated.
About the advancement in reproducing sound is the third breakthrough. Determining operational stability of the devices enabled the company to enhance the playing capabilities to take detailed acoustic measurements and make leaps of the devices. To take advantage of the realities of the simplified structures the primary activity involves alteration of the driving schemes and development of new functional algorithms. Designed to play sine-waves were the new algorithms. Audio Pixels Holdings Limited (ASX:AKP) traded higher at $20.250 which is up by 14.407 percent.
