Battling climate change is and has been at the forefront of priorities in both the public and private sector for some time now. The batteries of electric vehicles are made up of lithium; and it’s this commodity that’s been touted as the key to creating a greener and more sustainable future for all mankind. While there’s no doubt some benefits to using lithium-powered batteries, it’s perhaps a little naïve to believe that the mining of lithium doesn’t come without its own environmental costs.
