From Alibaba, Lucid to NetEase: Top stocks to watch out this week

The strong third-quarter earnings of companies have lifted the benchmark US indices to record highs in recent times as bullish sentiments dominated the market. However, although it is more than a month into the earnings season, many well-known companies are yet to report.

Here are some of the top stocks to watch out for this week.

Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:LCID)

Lucid Group is a Newark, California-based electric vehicle manufacturer that also has interests in the energy storage and equipment manufacturing sector.

The LCID stock was up 2.62% to US$45.08 at 11:37 am ET on Nov 15. Its stock value increased by 337.55% YTD. The firm's 52-week highest and lowest stock prices were US$64.86 and US$9.67, respectively, and its market cap is US$73.09 billion.

The California-based EV manufacturer will release its third-quarter results on Monday after the market close. Meanwhile, MotorTrend magazine has announced that Lucid Air has won its 2022 MotorTrend Car of the Year Award against 24 competitors.

In the second quarter of fiscal 2021, the company reported a net loss of US$588.81 million.

NetEase, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTES)

NetEase is an Hangzhou, China-based internet technology company that develops mobile and PC games, e-commerce platforms, and other related services.

The shares of NTES were down 1.12% to US$109.90 at 11:51 am ET on Nov 15. Its stock value surged 14.9% YTD. Its 52-week highest and lowest stock prices were US$134.33 and US$77.97, respectively. NetEase's market cap is US$296.62 billion. Its EPS is US$2.67.

The firm will report its third-quarter financial results on Nov 16 before the opening bell.

In the second quarter of fiscal 2021, the company's revenue was up 12% YoY to RMB20.5 billion (US$3.2 billion). Its net income attributable to shareholders was RMB3.5 billion (US$548.5 million).

NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)

Nvidia Corporation is based in Santa Clara, California, and manufactures processors for gaming and other related industries.

The NVDA stock fell 2.73% to US$295.605 at 11:58 am ET on Nov 15. Its stock value jumped 131.75% YTD. Its market cap is US$738.99 billion, and its 52-week highest and lowest stock prices were US$323.10 and US$115.67, respectively.

Its EPS and annualized dividend are US$2.80 and US$0.16, respectively. Nvidia is expected to report its third-quarter financial results of fiscal 2022 on Nov 17 after the market close.

In the second quarter of FY 2022, it reported a record revenue of US$6.51 billion, up 68% YoY. On a GAAP basis, its diluted earnings were US$0.94 per share, an increase of 276% YoY.

Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA)


Alibaba is a leading technology company that specializes in e-commerce and other related services. It is based in Hangzhou, China.

The stocks of BABA were down 0.11% to US$166.625 at 12:04 pm ET on Monday. Its market cap and EPS are US$451.85 billion and US$8.20, respectively. The company's 52-week highest and lowest stock prices were US$280.61 and US$138.43, respectively. Its stock value tumbled 26.79% YTD.

Alibaba will release its September quarter results on Nov 18 before the opening bell. Its revenue ticked up 34% YoY to RMB205.74 billion (US$31.86 billion) for the quarter that ended on June 30, 2021. Its non-GAAP net income rose 10% YoY to RMB43.44 billion (US$6.72 billion).

JD.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:JD)

JD.com is a Chinese e-commerce company based in Beijing. It is one of the major B2C online retailers in China.

The JD stocks declined 1.86% to US$84.35 at 12:10 pm ET on Nov 15. Its value sank 0.44% YTD. JD.com’s market cap is US$130.17 billion, and its EPS is US$3.44. The stock saw the highest price of US$108.29 and the lowest price of US$61.65 in the last 52 weeks.

The firm is expected to report its third-quarter results on Nov 18 before the market opens.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter of fiscal 2021, the company's revenue jumped 26.2% YoY to RMB253.8 billion (US$139.3 billion). Its net income attributable to shareholders was RMB794.3 million (US$123 million) compared to RMB16.4 billion in the same quarter of the previous year.

Bottomline

The S&P 500 index surged 24.80% YTD while increasing 8.81% QTD. Analysts expect the S&P 500 companies to see strong growth in the quarter compared to the same period a year ago. Meanwhile, traders will eagerly wait for the results of the companies that are due this week.
