On 14th October 2019, the company made a press release stating that Surf Buyer Limited, which is a new company that is owned by the funds managed by an US based Private Equity company Thomas Bravo, LLC made a cash offer for the purchase of entire issued equity share capital of Sophos Group Plc for the consideration of each Sophos share worth US$7.40, valuing the company at GBX 583 per share based on the exchange rate on the date of announcement, or an enterprise value worth £3.113 billion. As per the offer, the company has been valued at a premium of 37.1 per cent as compared to the closing price of GBX 425.5 per share on 11th October 2019, which was the last trading day before the day of announcement of the acquisition. After the press release on 14th October 2019, the company’s shares jumped by 35.61 per cent to GBX 577.00.
