Earlier, when somebody talked about making purchases through a QR scan, transferring cryptocurrency from one wallet to another, it sounded like a process related to sci-fi. But, in present times, it has become a reality, as more and more retail outlets and businesses are accepting cryptocurrencies payments, like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The newest crypto to jump on the bandwagon is Dogecoin.

Recently, Dogecoin became the seventh crypto to be accepted as a form of payment on Coinbase Commerce, a US-based e-commerce platform.

Earlier, spending digital assets involved a lot of hassles as users had to transfer tokens to the crypto exchange, trade them, and then transfer the said money into their bank account to spend.

However, with a tremendous surge in the popularity of owning cryptocurrencies, more and more businesses have now started accepting crypto payments.

Some users are buying gift cards from their crypto money, while others are taking up debit cards offered by Coinbase Global, etc., enabling them to spend their crypto assets anywhere where Visa is accepted.

It is a widely known fact about SpaceX and Tesla's head, Elon Musk's love for Dogecoin. He has openly rallied for the meme cryptocurrency. Often, his tweets and various references on the same bring a surge in prices of the dog-themed cryptocurrency.

Why is Dogecoin more popular among small businesses?

Various small- and mid-sized businesses are favouring Dogecoin over Bitcoin as the former has some obvious benefits:

  • Owing to unlimited supply, Dogoein is better equipped to handle day-to-day transactions.
  • Dogecoin has lower transaction fees.
  • Also, it has relatively fast transaction times as compared to Bitcoin.
