NOIDA, UTTAR PARDESH, INDIA, December 7, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ -- According to a new report published by Knowledge Sourcing Intelligence, forecasted between 2021 and 2028, the regenerative thermal oxidizer market was valued at US$761.572 million in 2021 and is anticipated to propel significantly over the coming years.

The market is expected to grow due to rising industrialization, an increased need for double-bed thermal oxidizers, heightened demand in the chemical industry, and a focus on conserving energy and reducing carbon footprints.

Regenerative thermal oxidizers (RTOs) are industrial devices designed for managing exhaust gases produced by various industries. Their purpose is to eliminate harmful emissions and volatile organic compounds released by businesses, thereby preventing air pollution. The RTO achieves this by subjecting the contaminants to extremely high temperatures. Through a high-temperature thermal oxidation process, the RTO converts these contaminants into carbon dioxide and water vapor, driving the demand for the regenerative thermal oxidizer market. Moreover, the device is utilized for treating pollutants such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and suspended particulate matter. It finds applications in key manufacturing sectors, including mining, chemicals, automotive, food, and beverages, among others.

Classified by type, the categories include SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) devices and thermal exhaust gas cleaning. The SCR denitration system is influenced by various factors, with the catalyst playing a central role. The catalyst's structure, type, and surface area significantly affect its performance. Additionally, crucial operational parameters such as flue gas temperature, space velocity, ammonia-nitrogen ratio, and oxygen concentration also exert a notable impact on catalyst activity.

The market can be segmented into single-bed, double-bed, and triple-bed regenerative thermal oxidizers. The prevalent design in existing system configurations is the double bed RTO. When paired with a well-designed poppet valve, this design enhances the efficiency and compactness of a 2-chamber ceramic media bed system. Apart from the design advantages of the double bed, the RTO requires fewer materials and is inherently more cost-effective to manufacture. Double bed RTOs bypass the beds and create vacuum spikes during flow reversals. While some applications can tolerate lower VOC destruction efficiency of double bed RTOs, there is a growing importance and prevalence of achieving higher VOC destruction. Consequently, the increased adoption of double beds RTOs significantly contribute to the expansion of the regenerative thermal oxidizer market. Notable providers of double-bed RTOs include companies like Alliance Corporation, Catalytic Products International, CECO Environmental, and PCA.

Categorized by industry vertical, the sectors include chemical, coating and printing, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, oil and gas, and petroleum. In 2019, CPI implemented an electrically heated catalytic oxidizer for the elimination of EtO emissions at a medical product manufacturing facility in the Midwest. Additionally, in 2018, the company deployed a new VECTOR Series Catalytic Oxidizer (CatOx) to reduce VOCs at a pharmaceutical product manufacturing site in the Western US.

Europe is expected to lead the regenerative thermal oxidizer market due to a rapid increase in the release of VOCs, hydrocarbons, and other pollutants resulting from industrialization, expanding mining activities, and the growing production of automobiles, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Consequently, regulatory bodies like the European Environment Agency are enforcing laws mandating the adoption of emission control technology. European manufacturers comply with government regulations to enhance production capacity and promote environmental sustainability, leading to an increased demand for regenerative thermal oxidizers. The market for regenerative thermal oxidizers is projected to expand further as manufacturing and industrial activities continue to grow in the region.

There are several companies in this market. In February 2022, Durr AG announced the establishment of seven regenerative thermal oxidizers (RTO) air pollution control systems for the chemical company Yisheng Petrochemical Co., Ltd. Yisheng Petrochemical received seven identical turnkey Oxi X RE systems and an equal number of Sorpt. X SW wet scrubbers from Durr for implementing the regenerative thermal oxidation process. Each system comprises nine Oxi. X RE towers, a downstream scrubber, and a clean gas stack. One of the largest RTO installations globally is a nine-tower RTO with a treatment capacity of approximately 330,000 Nm3/h and a total treatment capacity of 2.31 million Nm3/h distributed across the seven units.
