Who invented the world's first digital currency? This question is buzzing allover now, especially among the crypto enthusiasts. The identity of Bitcoin's actual creator is often shrouded in mystery.

Amidst this anonymity, the majority of the people credit Satoshi Nakamoto as the pseudonymous creator of bitcoin.

This time, Business magnate and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has stated that he agrees with the widespread belief that cryptocurrency expert Nick Szabo, the man behind Bitgold, might be Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of bitcoin.

In a podcast that was published Tuesday, Musk held that one could look at the growth of ideas prior to the launch of bitcoin and notice who wrote about those ideas. This he said when he was asked about his thought on Nakamoto's identity.

In the year 2014, few linguistic researchers carefully studied Nakamoto's bitcoin whitepaper and the writing of Szabo and found the results undisputable. There were several linguistic similarities between Szabo's writing and the bitcoin whitepaper.

Szabo has talked publicly about bitcoin’s history as well as blockchain technology, though he has consistently denied the belief that he is the anonymous inventor of the digital asset.

Meanwhile, while quoting popular English poet William Shakespeare's quote - “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”, Musk wisely said: "What is a name anyway? It's a name attached to an idea. What does it even mean?"

The Tesla CEO indicated that there was not much essence behind the identity of Bitcoin's creator.

  • Szabo has dismissed the claims that he was the Bitcoin creator.
