SINGAPORE, March 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Summit Group, through its Singapore-based subsidiary Summit Power International Limited (SPIL), hosted an Iftar (breaking of fast) gathering for approximately 200 migrant workers, primarily from Bangladesh, during the holy month of Ramadan. The event took place on March 20 at a workers' dormitory in Space@Tuas, with another 200 meals provided for Muslim workers unable to attend in person.

Muhammed Aziz Khan, Founder Chairman of Summit Group, shares Iftar with Bangladeshi migrant workers in Singapore as part of the company’s Ramadan community initiative hosted by Summit Power International.

Founder Chairman of Summit Group, Muhammed Aziz Khan, personally participated in the gathering, breaking fast alongside the workers. The event also featured the distribution of gifts to 1,400 workers and the presentation of handmade appreciation cards created by approximately 50 students from Big Heart Student Care Services at Zhangde Primary School and the German European School Singapore.

"Throughout the years, social responsibility remains a core principle of the Summit Group," said Muhammed Aziz Khan. "Bangladeshi nationals comprise a significant number of the migrant workers in Singapore. This year's Iftar that we sponsored in Singapore underscores our efforts to give back."

Khan, a Singaporean of Bangladeshi origin, was awarded the Public Service Medal (COVID-19) in October 2023 for his work supporting Bangladeshi workers isolated in dormitories during the pandemic.

This marks the first Singapore Iftar event sponsored by SPIL, which is the Singapore-headquartered parent company of Bangladesh's largest private-sector power generation company. Beyond this initiative, SPIL engages in various corporate social responsibility efforts in Bangladesh, including charity donations for neuro-divergent children, participation in UNICEF programs to assist school dropouts, and support for scientific research in nutrition and online education.

The event highlighted the importance of community engagement and recognition of migrant workers' contributions to Singapore's development. Teachers from the German European School Singapore expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to involve students in creating messages of gratitude for the workers, noting that the activity fostered creativity, teamwork, and compassion among participants.

"We are delighted to partner with the German European School Singapore for a meaningful initiative aimed at giving back to the community," said a representative from Big Heart Student Care. "This significant event not only instilled a deep sense of gratitude in the students but also helped foster new friendships and lasting memories."
