Several service operators are battling to function amid soaring Omicron infections in the country.
Moreover, nearly 90 staff from Metlink, the entity that oversees Wellington’s trains, buses and ferry services, had been down with COVID-19. Only 50% of the regular trains are operational in Auckland due to staff shortages.

As per Auckland Transport, increased cancellations and decreased services are likely in days ahead as staff faces Omicron impact. In addition, supermarkets also have to face staff shortages, and general practitioners have to work all 7 days a week to cover up for covid-affected colleagues.
NZ reported 17,582 new case numbers in the past 24 hours.
