BTC Markets, one of the largest crypto exchanges in Australia, has partnered with the 2022 Australian Fashion Week (AFW) that starts on 9 May. The crypto exchange has been announced the official partner of Afterpay AFW 2022. It will also launch a couture dress as an NFT.
During the weeklong fashion show that is being held at various venues across Sydney between May 9-13, will physically display the dress. Also, an animated avatar of the dress will be available for purchase both as an NFT and a real garment.
Leading fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Victoria's Secret are no longer naive to NFTs and the metaverse.
Earlier, the event was announced by Australia Fashion Week, stating: "Fashion has entered the metaverse, with NFTs and augmented reality gaining popularity amongst consumers who want more ways to shop and engage with brands.”
The event holds relevance for the crypto world as crypto exchanges see it as an opportunity to create brand awareness and a platform to engage with target audiences.
BTC Markets tweeted on Monday: “We're excited to announce that BTC Markets is the Official Partner of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week!”
Later, Caroline Bowler, BTC Markets CEO, took to Twitter and said: "Taking Crypto to the Catwalk! Another first from BTCMarkets - official Cryptocurrency partner for AAFW. We've also got an awesome collaboration with Daniel Avakian to share along with lots of other goodies to announce!”
Earlier, Bowler stated that the event provided an opportunity to engage with a growing community of crypto-savvy women in Australia.
