• Nuclear energy is one of the cleanest sources of energy, accounting for around 10% of the global electricity generation.

• It is a source of carbon-free electricity.

• Nuclear technology use is not only limited to electricity generation but it also has a wide applicability in medical diagnosis, treatment and space exploration.

• Renewable energy is defined as the energy which is collected from natural resources such as the sun and wind. Renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, and hydroelectricity have already started replacing fossil fuel energy sources in different parts of the world.

• Nuclear energy is the largest clean energy source in the United States, accounting for about 800 billion kWh of power generation every year and delivering over 50% of the country's emission-free power, according to the Office of Nuclear Energy within the U.S. Department of Energy.

• Currently, there are 440 nuclear power reactors across the globe, which deliver about 10% of the world's electricity, as per the World Nuclear Association. Also, around 50 nuclear power reactors are under the construction phase.

• Nuclear energy has been a subject of debate due to its advantages and risks. Though it is considered as an eco-friendly, clean, and green source of energy, occurrences of disasters like Chernobyl and Fukushima have raised serious questions around the use of nuclear energy as a source of green energy in the future.

• There are mixed opinions; some believe that it is a clean and green source of energy, while others believe that it a dangerous source of energy, which creates radioactive emissions.
