Apart from Canada, the American multinational tech company will also invest in eight renewable power projects in the US, the UK, Spain and Sweden.
This is not the first time that Amazon is investing in renewables. With the April 19 move, billionaire Jeff Bezos’ company has become the largest corporate buyer of renewable energy across the world. The company claims to have 206 such projects globally.
All these projects are boosting Amazon’s prospects of becoming a 100 per cent green-powered company by 2025. The projects power Amazon’s corporate offices, its AWS data centres and other such facilities. While announcing the new projects, Mr Bezos specified Amazon’s commitment to become carbon neutral by the year 2040.
