On Friday, March 4, the TSX Composite Index gained 152.02 points, 0.72 per cent, to close the week at 21,402.43. Despite financials falling 0.4 per cent, energy was up 3.5 per cent and industrials gained 1.7 per cent to offset losses in the healthcare and technology sectors.
Baytex Energy Corp gained 9.8 per cent during the session. It was another weekly gain the index registered, growing 1.4 per cent.

Volume actives
Suncor Energy Inc saw 25.3 million shares traded, making it the most active stock. It was followed by Athabasca Oil Corporation that saw over 15.3 million shares switch hands, and Baytex Energy Corp saw 11.5 million shares traded. They all closed with gains.
Movers and laggards

Wall Street update
With the Russia-Ukraine war situation ongoing, Wall Street was not able to see the same gains Canada’s benchmark index saw. The Dow was down 179.86 points, 0.53 per cent, to 33,614.8 and the S&P 500 moved lower by 34.62 points, 0.79 per cent, to 4,328.87 points. Nasdaq’s Composite plummeted 224.50 points, 1.66 per cent, to 13,313.44.
Commodities update
Gold gained 1.59 per cent to US$ 1,966.60. Oil prices rebounded. Brent oil gained 6.93 per cent and was at US$ 118.11/bbl and crude oil was up 7.44 per cent to US$ 115.68/bbl.
Currency news
The loonie posted a 0.39 per cent loss Friday while USD/CAD ended at 1.2730. The US Dollar Index was at 98.65 against the basket of major currencies, up 0.88 per cent.
Money market
The US 10-year bond yield was down 3.13 per cent to 1.683 and the Canada 10-year bond yield was down 6.41 per cent to 1.664.
