As per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. economy added 1.8 million of nonfarm payroll employment in the month of July, reflecting third straight month of job gains after a significant decline in the month of April. Notably, Job creation prevailed in leisure, hospitality, retail trade, health care, professional and business services, government and other services. Furthermore, the official unemployment rate plunged by 0.9 percentage point to 10.2 per cent, and the number of unemployed individuals fell by 1.4 million to 16.3 million.
ACCC has allowed Ingham’s Group and other chicken processors to work together to lessen the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and related Victorian stage 4 restrictions on the chicken meat industry. The ACCC has given conditional interim authorisation to Ingham’s, Turosi, Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm as well as the Australian Chicken Meat Federation to collaborate on various measures in relation to their plants, aimed at certifying adequate supply of chickens & chicken meat, lessing the degree of any job losses, and managing the impact of the stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria on chicken growers & other parts of the supply chain.
The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority announced that it would restart public consultations on select policy reforms. It would also start a phased renewal of the issuing of new licenses. In March 2020, APRA suspended most of its planned policy plus supervision initiatives in response to COVID-19 impact.
