Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:WTC), a leader in logistics and trade software, is kicking off 2025 with the acquisition of ImpexDocs, an Australian trade management solutions provider. The move comes as Wisetech aims to strengthen its suite of compliance, trade, and logistics products, marking a fresh chapter following a challenging 2024.
Strategic Value of the Acquisition
ImpexDocs, based in Sydney, offers a software suite tailored to streamline international trade processes. Its features include managing sales and purchase orders, shipping documentation, compliance requirements, and providing visibility into the status of orders, shipments, and contracts. The company has an established presence in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, catering to a diverse client base.
Wisetech CEO Vlad Bilanovsky emphasized the importance of ImpexDocs to the company’s growth strategy.
“This will help accelerate ongoing product development within digital documentation – one of our six priorities to extend the CargoWise ecosystem,” said Bilanovsky.
The acquisition aligns with Wisetech’s commitment to improving digital trade solutions, a key component of its CargoWise platform, which is used globally by logistics providers for supply chain management.
Continuity and Leadership
Under the terms of the acquisition, ImpexDocs will remain under the leadership of its founder, Manish Desai, ensuring a seamless transition for its customers. This arrangement will allow ImpexDocs to continue delivering its innovative solutions while benefiting from Wisetech’s resources and expertise.
Customers of ImpexDocs can expect uninterrupted access to the software and its services, ensuring stability and continuity during the integration process.
A New Start After a Tumultuous Year
The acquisition marks a positive start to the year for Wisetech, following a turbulent 2024. Last year saw the resignation of its longtime CEO Richard White, amid allegations of misconduct. White was ultimately cleared of wrongdoing after an ongoing review, but the controversy cast a shadow over the company’s reputation.
With the acquisition of ImpexDocs, Wisetech is focusing on growth and innovation, aiming to solidify its position as a leader in global logistics technology.
Market Response
Wisetech’s stock closed 0.26% higher at AU$127.05 per share on 8 January 2025.
