Highlights

  • Nanoveu (NVU) secures a US patent for EMASS real-time object detection technology.
  • The patented hardware reduces energy consumption and supports efficient AI applications.
  • Vision AI integration to advance smart devices, security systems, and autonomous technologies.

Nanoveu (ASX:NVU) has been granted a pivotal US patent protecting the innovative real-time object detection and tracking solutions developed by Embedded AI Systems (EMASS). This development emphasizes Nanoveu's commitment to advancing Vision AI technology with applications spanning autonomous devices, security systems, and augmented reality.

The patent exclusively covers a novel non-maximum suppression (NMS) hardware block, which is a mere 0.06 square millimeters in size, making it over 90% smaller than standard alternatives. This design is vital in reducing the cost, complexity, and energy consumption of EMASS's proprietary chip technology, paving the way for more efficient AI integration.

Efficient and Energy-Conscious Hardware

EMASS's NMS hardware delivers impressive efficiency by handling up to 10,000 bounding boxes per second while consuming less than 1 megawatt of power. Bounding boxes isolate distinct objects within images or videos, enabling precise object recognition, such as identifying human faces in security footage or highlighting products in retail environments.

The low energy requirement of this hardware significantly extends device battery life, reduces operational costs, and ensures compatibility with edge devices like drones, smart cameras, and autonomous robots.

Driving Vision AI Adoption

NMS technology is a cornerstone of Vision AI applications, enabling systems to filter duplicates and prioritize clarity. By running computations on dedicated hardware instead of general-purpose processors, latency is reduced, energy usage is minimized, and the system footprint is compacted.

This efficiency opens doors for widespread Vision AI adoption across smart homes, safer cities, and wearable AI products. EMASS founder Mohamed Sabry Aly highlighted the transformative potential of the patented design, emphasizing its capability to track multiple moving objects in real time with minimal energy consumption.

Future Prospects

To further validate the technology, EMASS plans to conduct compatibility integration tests across various hardware and software ecosystems. These tests will evaluate energy efficiency, latency, and accuracy, with detailed results to be shared in a comprehensive report.

With this patent, Nanoveu (NVU) strengthens its foothold in the AI space, aiming to deliver sustainable, high-performance solutions to industries that demand cutting-edge innovation. The technology holds promise for revolutionizing how devices interact with the world, enabling smarter and more sustainable operations.
