  • Rising global demand for AI-driven drone defense solutions

DroneShield (ASX:DRO) has landed a significant $32.2 million contract to supply its cutting-edge counterdrone systems to a military department in the Asia-Pacific region. The order comprises five separate agreements through an in-country reseller, which is a fully owned subsidiary of a major global publicly listed company. This reseller is contractually responsible for distributing DroneShield’s technology to a prominent military government department.

The scope of the contract includes both vehicle-mounted and fixed-site Counter-UxS (uncrewed systems) solutions. Deliveries are scheduled across the second and third quarters of this year, highlighting the company’s swift execution timeline and the urgent demand for its defense technology.

This agreement adds to a growing list of recent successes for DroneShield in the region. Earlier this year, the company secured seven standalone contracts valued at $12.3 million from the same reseller, supporting the same end customer.

DroneShield’s technology portfolio is designed to protect against modern security threats such as drones and other autonomous systems. Its platforms integrate artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance detection, tracking, and neutralization capabilities. According to chief executive officer Oleg Vornik, the demand for advanced counterdrone solutions continues to accelerate as global defense clients transition from testing phases to full-scale deployment.

The company’s strategic planning has supported this growth. In the past year, DroneShield (DRO) raised $75 million to scale operations and prepare inventory for large-scale contracts. About $57.5 million was allocated to boost its product line, including handheld systems like the RfPatrol Mk2 and DroneGun Mk4, mobile solutions such as the DroneSentry-X Mk2, and fixed installations featuring RfOne sensors and DroneCannon disruptors—core components of the broader DroneSentry system.

In addition to hardware, DroneShield earmarked $7.5 million from the capital raising to enhance its research and development capabilities. A key focus is on advancing AI and machine learning technologies to strengthen system response and reliability in detecting and countering uncrewed aerial threats.

As geopolitical tensions and security risks involving drones rise globally, DroneShield (DRO) appears well-positioned to play a pivotal role in helping allied military forces modernize their defense infrastructure against emerging threats.
