Highlights
- Tambourah Metals (TMB) begins an eight-hole, 1,000-meter drilling program at Tambourah King gold system.
- Previous assays revealed high-grade gold intersections, including 1.05m at 77.4g/t gold.
- Ongoing exploration aims to expand known mineralization in the historic goldfield.
Tambourah Metals (ASX:TMB) has embarked on an exciting new drilling campaign at the Tambourah King gold system in Western Australia. This initiative will include eight drill holes covering a total of 1,000 meters, targeting deeper mineralized zones that could indicate a continuation of high-grade gold deposits.
The decision to extend drilling comes after promising results from a maiden diamond drilling program in 2024. A standout assay from this program included 2.65 meters at 32.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 58.35 meters depth, with an exceptional high-grade section of 1.05 meters at 77.4 g/t from 59.05 meters. These figures highlight the strong potential of the region, encouraging further exploration efforts.
Advancing Exploration at Tambourah King
Shallow drilling has already provided valuable insights into the mineralized structure at Tambourah King, revealing continuity of gold-bearing veins over a strike length exceeding 200 meters. Many of these drill holes tested depths of less than 45 meters below the surface, reinforcing the presence of gold near existing historical workings.
Notable prior intercepts from reverse circulation drilling include:
- 2m at 18g/t gold from 55m
- 5m at 6.1g/t gold from 69m
- 5m at 2.02g/t gold from 53m
- 6m at 2.05g/t gold from 18m
These findings suggest strong potential for deeper mineralization, making further exploration crucial to defining additional gold-rich zones.
Exploring the Historic Goldfield
Tambourah King is part of the broader Tambourah goldfield, located approximately 85 kilometers southwest of Marble Bar. This historically significant area has yielded an impressive 163.2 kilograms of gold from 5,445 tonnes of ore, translating to a remarkable head grade of 27.35 g/t.
With its current drilling program, the company aims to extend known mineralized zones along strike and beneath previously worked areas. Additional targets, including the Western Chief lodes, are also on the radar for further testing.
Government Support and Next Steps
Tambourah Metals (TMB) secured a $180,000 co-funded drilling grant under Western Australia’s Exploration Incentive Scheme in October. This funding will facilitate diamond drilling in areas south of the current focus zones, with plans to initiate these activities after reviewing results from the ongoing campaign.
Samples from the current drilling will be sent to Perth for assay once drilling concludes, which is expected to take about a week. These results will provide further clarity on the extent of mineralization and guide the next phase of exploration.
With a rich historical backdrop and promising exploration data, Tambourah Metals (TMB) continues to advance its efforts in uncovering new gold resources at Tambourah King, reinforcing the project’s potential as a high-grade gold system in Western Australia.
