Highlights
- Silver Mines (SVL) boosts Bowdens Silver Project reserves to 71.7 million ounces.
- Updated ore reserve estimate reflects higher silver grades and increased metallurgical recoveries.
- New mineral resource estimate incorporates extensive drilling and refined geological data.
Silver Mines (ASX:SVL) has released a significant update to the mineral resource and ore reserve estimates for its Bowdens Silver Project in New South Wales. The updated figures demonstrate enhanced confidence in the project’s potential and position it as a key asset within the Australian silver sector.
Expanded Ore Reserves
The updated reserve estimate for the Bowdens Silver Deposit stands at 32.8 million tonnes at 68 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, along with 0.38% zinc and 0.29% lead. This represents a 10% increase in ore tonnes compared to the 2018 estimate. Contained silver in the reserves has risen to 71.7 million ounces, a 7.5% increase, with silver forecasted to contribute over 85% of the mine’s revenue, up from 70% in the previous reserve model.
Silver Mines attributed this growth to improved metallurgical recoveries driven by a simplified processing flowsheet, alongside an optimized mine design that minimizes environmental impact. Additionally, the reserve contains 123.3 kilotonnes of zinc and 95.6 kilotonnes of lead, adding further value to the project.
Updated Mineral Resource Estimate
The mineral resource estimate (MRE) has been updated based on extensive drilling, new assay data, refined geological domaining, and updated metal pricing assumptions. The December 2024 MRE indicates measured and indicated resources of 143 million tonnes at 35.7 g/t silver, representing a 6.3% increase in silver grade compared to previous estimates.
Contained silver stands at 164 million ounces, marginally lower due to the reduction in overall tonnes. Measured and indicated resources now comprise 80% of total tonnes and 92% of contained silver ounces, enhancing confidence in the project's economic viability.
Future Potential
A gold-dominant subset of the Bowdens resource has also been identified, containing 19.4 million tonnes at 0.32 g/t gold for approximately 201,570 ounces of gold. Further refinement of these gold domains is expected in future updates.
Silver Mines (SVL) highlights the Bowdens Silver Project as one of the most advanced silver development projects listed on the ASX. The project's strong resource base, tier-one jurisdiction, and enhanced recovery techniques position it as a standout in the global silver sector.
