Highlights
- Peak Minerals' first batch of assays shows high-value rutile mineralization.
- Samples indicate up to 69.8% rutile and 93% total valuable heavy minerals (VHM).
- 65% of exploration completed, with further drilling planned.
Peak Minerals (ASX:PUA) has released promising results from its initial sampling program at the Minta Rutile Project in Cameroon, suggesting the presence of a significant rutile deposit.
The company analyzed 10 samples and rutile nuggets collected from its 8,800 square kilometer project, with tests conducted at Diamantina Laboratory in collaboration with the CSIRO in Perth. The samples underwent heavy liquid separation (HLS) and modal mineralogy (SEM and grain count) to determine their mineral composition.
Encouraging High-Grade Rutile Results
According to the assay results, samples contained up to 69.8% rutile in the valuable heavy mineral (VHM) assemblage, with total valuable heavy minerals reaching an impressive 93% in some areas. Even the weakest sample contained 16.9% VHM, with monazite (35.6%) and zircon (21.5%) making up significant portions of the mineral content.
Additionally, the company reported visual estimates of up to 5% total heavy minerals (THM) in residual soils, suggesting widespread mineralization across the project area.
Exploration Progress and Future Plans
Peak Minerals has completed 65% of its exploration program and continues to discover rutile nuggets throughout the project. The company remains optimistic about the potential for a major rutile province.
Market Reaction
Peak Minerals' stock has been trading at 1.5 cents, with investors closely watching for further results from the upcoming reconnaissance drilling program.
