Highlights
- Panther Metals (ASX:PNT) initiates a 2,000-meter drill program at Burtville East to explore further gold extensions.
- Previous drilling revealed high-grade gold intercepts, including peak values of 127 g/t gold.
- The campaign will assess historic workings, conduct metallurgical studies, and evaluate stockpiles for potential processing.
Panther Metals (ASX:PNT) has launched a significant follow-up drilling campaign at the Burtville East gold project in Western Australia, aiming to expand on recent high-grade discoveries. The new 2,000-meter program is designed to investigate the potential extensions of previously identified gold mineralization, including multiple bonanza-grade intercepts.
This latest phase builds on Panther Metals’ 2024 drilling results, which showcased exceptionally high-grade gold, with one-meter intercepts reaching up to 127 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. These findings underscore the strong mineralization potential at Burtville East, reinforcing its status as a promising asset in Western Australia’s renowned goldfields.
Strategic Expansion and Funding Support
Earlier this month, Panther Metals successfully secured $685,000 through a placement, providing the necessary financial backing to push forward with the current drill campaign. The funding supports efforts to further define the gold system and investigate multiple opportunities within the project area.
“Our analysis of the last drill program highlighted the need for deeper exploration to fully unlock Burtville East’s potential. This follow-up program is a crucial step toward identifying additional gold extensions and assessing the economic viability of the project,” said Chief Executive Officer Daniel Tuffin.
The company is not only focused on extending known mineralization but is also utilizing this phase of drilling to assess historic workings for future bulk sampling. Metallurgical and mineralogical studies will be conducted to aid mining reviews, and high-grade stockpiles within the project area will be evaluated for potential processing.
Gold-Rich Prospects in a Prime Location
Burtville East is situated on the northwestern edge of the Laverton gold project, a region historically known for its rich gold deposits. The project area hosts historic underground workings and mineralized stockpiles, some of which have demonstrated significant gold content.
Historical grab samples from the stockpiles returned gold grades as high as 38.45 g/t, while a 2022 sampling campaign by Panther Metals recorded a peak of 21.7 g/t gold. The company’s maiden drilling in 2022 further confirmed multiple gold-rich quartz lodes adjacent to the main Burtville East lode, setting the stage for continued exploration success.
With drilling now underway, Panther Metals aims to deliver further results that could enhance the project’s development prospects. As the gold price remains strong, the company continues to position itself strategically to maximize the potential of Burtville East.
