Highlights
- Over 500 historic workings identified via LiDAR
- Targets include antimony, gold, and copper prospects
- Final survey results expected within days
Resolution Minerals (ASX:RML) has taken a significant step forward at its Drake East project in New South Wales, revealing over 500 historical mine workings through an advanced LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) survey. This early data has unveiled a wealth of untapped exploration potential, positioning the company for an accelerated phase of follow-up mapping and sampling.
An interim LiDAR interpretation report has already confirmed the presence of 534 pits, 27 shafts, and 15 adits throughout the Drake East area. In addition to these features, 56 linear structures and mineralised veins have been identified, collectively spanning more than 4,150 metres in strike length.
These findings suggest a rich network of historical mining activity, primarily focused on antimony and gold, and potentially copper. Drake East already includes 15 known antimony prospects, 50 gold prospects, and three copper targets, with the antimony mineralisation spread across a 15-kilometre-wide area.
The LiDAR survey was carried out by GeoCloud, a geological data services company that previously completed similar work on an adjacent project operated by Legacy Minerals (ASX:LGM). That survey led to more than doubling the number of known historic workings in that region—raising expectations that Drake East could deliver similar upside.
According to Resolution Minerals’ executive director, the ability to accurately geolocate these features is key to understanding the distribution and potential mineralisation of the site. The over 500 identified workings are now classified as immediate targets for on-ground follow-up.
The company is planning to begin mapping and sampling the most promising zones shortly after the final LiDAR report is delivered, which is expected within the next 7 to 10 days. The current findings from the interim report have already surpassed initial expectations.
Drake East’s evolving profile highlights its potential as a significant project for antimony and gold in a historically underexplored area. With new technology helping to illuminate the past, Resolution Minerals is aiming to unlock future opportunities through data-driven exploration efforts.
As the final report is awaited, the focus shifts to prioritising these targets and assessing the scale of mineralisation present—marking an exciting phase of development for the project.
