Highlights
- RC drilling at Payns confirms wide gold mineralisation.
- Bowl-shaped structure identified, distinct from other Wallbrook zones.
- Further exploration and development ongoing at multiple sites.
Nexus Minerals (ASX:NXM) has advanced its exploration program with successful outcomes from its first reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Payns Prospect, situated within the Wallbrook Gold Project in Western Australia. Though the company is not part of the ASX 200, its latest activities have attracted interest from market watchers focused on emerging developments across regional gold projects.
This maiden RC drilling initiative followed earlier aircore work that identified a previously untested section of the project. The latest campaign drilled several holes, with nearly all of them intersecting gold mineralisation. These results aligned closely with the initial aircore data, affirming strong continuity in the mineralised zones. Notably, the RC drilling extended into deeper sections, suggesting the mineralisation persists well below surface levels, moving from the oxide layer into fresh rock zones.
The Payns Prospect is geologically distinct from other targets within Wallbrook. Unlike the more vertical gold structures observed in nearby zones, Payns shows a unique bowl-shaped formation, with mineralised layers dipping inward from both sides. This configuration indicates broader horizontal connectivity and could be significant for shaping future drilling strategies.
An important aspect of the deeper drilling was the identification of hematite-altered rock, often associated with feeder zones that could point to sustained gold systems at depth. These findings enhance the geological understanding of the area and provide clear vectors for the next stage of drilling.
Currently, the company is collecting one-metre assay samples for further analysis, with results expected soon. This data, alongside a comprehensive 66-element geochemistry program, is intended to refine targeting and inform the next round of RC drilling.
Nexus also has its sights set on several nearby prospects including Godfrey, Clement, and AMC 4.1, where groundwork and site clearing are underway. Concurrently, activities continue at the Temple resource area, where planning and permitting are being progressed to support potential mining operations. This includes engagement with partners and preparation of key development proposals and closure frameworks.
Through a combination of detailed exploration and forward-looking development plans, Nexus Minerals is positioning the Wallbrook Gold Project as a significant regional opportunity within the broader Western Australian gold landscape.
