- Onslow haulage operations resume after incident review
- Transhipping capacity at Port of Ashburton rises to 28mt
- FY25 iron ore volume guidance remains unchanged
Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) has resumed iron ore haulage operations on its dedicated Onslow haul road after a brief suspension due to a vehicle incident reported earlier this month. The announcement, made on 22 March 2025, comes with several updates that offer a deeper insight into the company’s progress and operational stability.
The company reported that its haulage activities were reinstated on the evening of 21 March 2025, following collaborative discussions with WorkSafe WA. These discussions focused on implementing stronger control measures and improving risk mitigation strategies for road train operations.
This operational pause began on 17 March 2025 after the rear trailers of a road train tipped over on the haul road. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed, and the prime mover along with the first trailer remained stable. While the exact cause is still under investigation, Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN) has proactively strengthened traffic management systems and controls on the haul route to enhance safety moving forward.
During the temporary suspension, haulage continued through contractor vehicles using alternative routes, minimizing overall disruption. The company also confirmed that its ongoing haul road upgrade program is progressing as planned and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of FY26. The project addresses wear and tear caused by extreme heat, water exposure, and heavy vehicle loads, with some road sections having been impacted by significant flooding events.
In another positive development, Mineral Resources (MIN) announced that the fourth transhipper vessel, MinRes Rosily, has commenced operations at the Port of Ashburton as of 22 March 2025. This boosts the transhipping capacity of the Onslow Iron project to 28 million tonnes per annum, marking a key milestone in the company's infrastructure expansion.
Importantly, the company has maintained its FY25 volume guidance for the Onslow Iron project, signaling confidence in its production and logistics capabilities despite the recent incident.
Overall, the resumption of haulage and the operational update provide a clearer picture of Mineral Resources' (MIN) proactive approach to safety, infrastructure resilience, and long-term production goals. With several moving parts now back in sync, the company is positioning itself for continued progress in its iron ore division.
