Highlights
- Many Peaks Minerals initiates a 160-hole aircore drilling program at the Ferké project targeting undrilled gold anomalies.
- Auger sampling has revealed significant anomalies, with peak assay results of 18.5g/t gold.
- Future plans include a reverse circulation drilling program and subsequent diamond drilling to further explore identified targets.
Many Peaks Minerals (ASX:MPK) has commenced an extensive aircore drilling campaign at its Ferké project in Côte d’Ivoire. This program, targeting undrilled gold anomalies in the region, involves the drilling of 160 holes and is scheduled to take three to four weeks, with initial results anticipated by mid-to-late April.
These targets were highlighted through recent auger sampling in the southern 9km of the expansive Leraba gold trend, which covers over 16km. Notable within these samples were robust anomalies, with two significant zones measuring 340m and 650m in width, located 1.9km and 3.8km north of the Ouarigue South prospect, respectively. Auger sampling also uncovered a high assay result of 18.5g/t gold, 3.8km south of Ouarigue, within an area previously showing gold in soil anomalies exceeding 30ppb.
The purpose of the +5000m aircore program is to confirm the presence of sub-surface gold anomalism in the weathered/oxide profile at these prioritized surface anomalies. This step represents a key phase in the strategic exploration of the underexplored yet highly prospective Leraba gold trend, a part of the 300km2 Ferké project area.
Strategic Expansion and Future Drilling Plans
Ferké was acquired by Many Peaks Minerals last year as part of a portfolio of assets in Côte d’Ivoire, with the aim of rapidly building a high-grade gold inventory. The project is advantageously positioned on the eastern edges of the Daloa greenstone belt, benefitting from previously successful exploration investments exceeding US$4 million.
Côte d’Ivoire, containing the geological Birimian rocks that stretch across West Africa and are known for prolific gold deposits, has been poised for development. Despite historically trailing behind neighboring countries in gold production, recent investment flows driven by political challenges in Burkina Faso and Mali have highlighted Côte d’Ivoire’s potential.
Post the aircore drilling, Many Peaks plans a follow-up reverse circulation (RC) program that spans over 4000 meters from mid-April to mid-May to test deeply seated targets revealed through comprehensive geophysical and geochemical analysis. These RC targets are instrumental for the project's advancement and allow for operational continuity prior to the availability of aircore assay results.
Looking further ahead, diamond drilling is scheduled for the June 2025 quarter, focusing on robust geological targets alone with imminent assays for earlier diamond drilling at the Ouarigue prospect and additional surface channel sampling data.
This concerted exploration effort aims to solidify Many Peaks Minerals' strategic position and significantly contribute to realizing Côte d’Ivoire’s burgeoning potential as a key gold-producing region.
