Livium Ltd (ASX:LVM) has announced a significant step in its strategic operations with a new partnership involving its subsidiary, Envirostream Australia Pty Ltd, and Schenker Australia Pty Ltd (DB:SAG), a leader in global logistics. This partnership, effective from April 4, 2025, grants Livium exclusive rights to manage and recycle lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries across Australia, showcasing a major leap in Livium’s recycling capabilities.

This one-year agreement positions Envirostream to handle both new and used Li-ion batteries, offering comprehensive storage and recycling solutions. This arrangement not only broadens Livium’s revenue streams but also aligns with global initiatives aimed at enhancing battery recycling. Simon Linge, CEO and Managing Director of Livium, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, emphasizing the delivery of top-tier services to major international players while adhering to stringent safety and risk management protocols.

The exclusive rights obtained by Livium underscore its strengthening foothold in the national recycling landscape. Under the terms of the agreement, DB Schenker will supply new batteries for secure storage, managed by Envirostream, until they are needed for return. Additionally, used batteries will be collected and processed at Envirostream’s specialized facilities. This dual approach not only reinforces Livium’s market position but also promotes a circular economy within the battery sector.

Craig Davison, CEO of DB Schenker for Australia and New Zealand, remarked on the milestone this agreement represents. The combination of DB Schenker's extensive logistics expertise with Livium's advanced recycling technologies promises to deliver comprehensive and sustainable battery management solutions across various industries.

The flexible nature of the agreement, with no set minimum volumes, presents an adaptive framework for both parties, allowing Livium to explore new market segments without the immediate need for capital investments. However, the potential for future expansion could pave the way for enhanced service capabilities and handling of larger volumes, thereby boosting economic impact over time.

As Livium and DB Schenker continue to forge a path toward more sustainable and efficient battery recycling practices, this partnership not only exemplifies their commitment to environmental stewardship but also positions them as leaders in the burgeoning field of battery recycling. Both companies are poised to benefit from the evolving opportunities in this dynamic sector, underscoring their dedication to innovative and sustainable industry solutions.
